Growing UP Wild

Growing Up WILD: is a nature-based curriculum for educators of children ages 3-7. It builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore the world around them. We welcome any adult who wants to teach kids about the outdoors at Oklahoma Project WILD workshops and professional development credit is available for educators. You can only receive activity guides by attending a workshop. Workshops cost $20. To register or for more information, contact Lisa Anderson , 405-990-1292. Project WILD

OKC Blue Thumb & PROJECT WET Training
June 3 and June 4 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm both days @ Oklahoma Conservation Commission (Department of Ag Building) at 2800 N Lincoln Blvd in Oklahoma City, OK.
The first day (June 3) of training will include an introduction to the Blue Thumb program and an overview of various ways you can participate as a Blue Thumb volunteer, with a focus on volunteer education opportunities. You will also learn about stream ecology, nonpoint source pollution and related topics through a series of educational activities which you can then use to educate members of your own community. Project WET (Water Education for Today) will be included and all participants will receive at WET activity guide at the end of the day. The day will also include a visit to a local stream where we will discuss the stream’s ecology, seine for fish and look for benthic macroinvertebrates!
The second day (June 4) of training will cover water quality monitoring. The day will include visiting a local stream to perform all of the required stream-side testing procedures and then returning to the indoor location to complete the chemical tests . We will also discuss the test results, what they mean and what they reveal about water quality and nonpoint source pollution. This monitoring training is mandatory before you can begin to independently monitor a stream site.

Join us for a hands-on workshop featuring Project Learning Tree and Project WET early childhood education curriculum guides! Participants will experience activities in a fun and collaborative environment while earning their certification.
About Project Learning Tree: Trees & Me: Activities for Exploring Nature with Young Children includes 12 activities and more than 250 learning experiences for families and teachers to connect children ages 1–6 to nature, with a focus on trees. Through fun, indoor and outdoor activities, toddlers and preschoolers explore nature through their senses, experience trees throughout the seasons, and connect with their community. The hands-on activities are designed for families and caregivers, childcare providers, and early childhood or PreK-Grade 1 educators to use in a range of settings, including preschools, childcare and nature centers, and at home. Special instructions tailor many experiences for children under 3 years of age.
About Project WET: Developed in coordination with early childhood experts and educators, Getting Little Feet Wet is designed to help educators of young children teach about water in fun, age-appropriate ways. This book contains 11 interactive, hands-on activities for young learners to explore different aspects of water—from water properties to water sounds. Each activity offers both Pre-K and K-2 options and is correlated to educational standards.
