“StorEEtelling for Change” explores the many ways stories shape learning.

From Storybooks to Storylines to Stories of Place.

Stories We Teach: From children’s books in early childhood classrooms to instructional storylines in K–12 classrooms, the stories we use can shape what learners notice, what questions they ask, and what possibilities they imagine.

Stories We Interpret: Every place has a story. Nonformal educators use interpretation to reveal the stories of landscapes, wildlife, people, history, culture, and community—and help learners see familiar places in new ways.

Stories That Change Us: Some stories stay with us. They change how we understand a place, an issue, ourselves, or our role in the world. They can shift conversations, challenge assumptions, and inspire what comes next.

What we are looking for:

The 2027 Oklahoma Environmental Education Expo invites you to explore all three. Sessions that reflect diverse voices, and offer concrete takeaways are especially encouraged.

Join us in equipping Oklahoma’s early childhood, formal K-12, and nonformal educators with inspiring ideas and practical tools to connect the story of our environment to the kids of our state.

Key dates:

Proposal deadline: Sunday, November 15th.  

Notifications sent by: Monday, December 14th.

2027 Oklahoma Environmental Education Expo – Thursday, February 4th and Friday, February 5th at the Nigh University Center at University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
